WORKFORCE RISKS

Organisations today face a wide range of risks associated with their employees, including employee safety, employment practices liability, employee absence, ergonomics, and other issues.

Health and safety

Given expectations of good governance, and a stricter regulatory environment, governments and the public are becoming less tolerant of Health and Safety (H&S) breaches.

The business value of looking at H&S beyond compliance is clearer than ever. By improving standards, organisations can, among other things, reduce staff absence rates and Employers' Liability claims and protect their reputation with stakeholders.

Critical questions you need to consider

  • What is your in-house competence in H&S? Can your people competently manage contracts and conduct risk assessments and accident investigations?
  • Are you measuring your performance using H&S audit and evaluation?
  • Do you benchmark yourself against your peers?
  • Do you know your accident and absence trends?
  • Can you demonstrate progress to Employers' Liability underwriters?
  • Do you understand the cultural and behavioural issues associated with H&S?
