RETAIL/WHOLESALE

The Retail/Wholesale Practice helps clients to be more successful by sharing best practices, providing valuable benchmarking information, and proposing solutions that help them to reduce their total cost of risk.

Retailers and consumer brands

At the front line of consumer markets, retailers and consumer goods companies have to maintain strong customer relationships at all times and safeguard their reputation and brand integrity from potential threats.

As food safety becomes of paramount importance, they need the capability to understand their supply chains in greater depth, and to trace exactly where particular products originated.

In the unfortunate case of having to recall products, companies in this sector need to anticipate all the major issues and actions, and have detailed plans in place.

In the meantime, such companies cannot afford to neglect their relationships with employees – high staff turnover is endemic in this sector and sickness absence can prove to be a drain on resources.

With two of the major UK supermarkets and a host of other household names as clients, Marsh understands the key risk issues facing UK retailers and consumer goods companies.

We have a dedicated industry focus. At the same time, we can draw on Marsh’s other key resources, such as its Employers’ Liability Practice and its market-leading Risk Management Information System, STARS.

In recent years, we have worked on key risk issues such as:

  • employment risk – reducing sickness absence and staff turnover
  • brand and reputation
  • loss of key personnel
  • weather risk
  • product recall
  • supply chain
  • business continuity planning
  • alcohol health
