Corporate Social Responsibility

Marsh has a well-established Corporate Social Responsibility programme which is supported at the most senior level.

Through this programme we offer financial support and the time and skills of our employees to a wide variety of charities and community organisations in the cities and towns in which we operate, as well as an active environmental sustainability programme.

Our programme comprises the following:

Charity of the Year

Every year, Marsh employees and other operating companies within Marsh & McLennan Companies select a Charity of the Year and then organise a series of fundraising events in support of it. This year’s Charity of the Year is Help for Heroes. Previous relationships have raised over £150,000 for the Charity through the efforts of colleagues.

National Charities

Marsh’s donation programme is administered centrally. Under the theme of “Helping People and Communities at Risk”, the Company has established an approval process, in which it works closely with the Charities Aid Foundation to select eight national UK charities, who when viewed in the aggregate, address a broad spectrum of human need.  The Company establishes a multi-year partnership with those charities, agreeing with each at the outset of our association a particular project or activity which our donation will fund, and then working with the charity to ensure its achievement.  View the current eight selected charities.  

Marsh MAGIC (Matching and Giving for Involvement with Charities)
Marsh matches the fundraising and volunteer efforts of employees, for the communities and charities of their choice, up to a ceiling of £300 per colleague per year.

Pennies from Heaven
Staff can donate the odd pennies from their pay slip to our Charity of the Year.

Matched Funding
Marsh adds 10% to employees’ payroll donations to charities of their choice via Give As You Earn.

Employee Volunteering
Our employee volunteering policy entitles every employee to a minimum of one day per year to take part in a programme that supports the community. Activities range from one-day ‘Team Challenges’ to one-to-one mentoring.

In addition, Marsh colleagues in our Bristol, Witham and London offices spend one lunchtime per week visiting local school children and helping them with their literacy and numeracy skills. In London, we have had a relationship with the Halley School since 1997.

Sustainability

Marsh’s corporate parent Marsh & McLennan Companies has made environmental sustainability a key pillar of its overall commitment to corporate responsibility.
